Well, there is no perfect way to ease you into the description of the brief year I spent working at DhiTV, Broadcasting Maldives. Fortunately for you, my friend Ula has summarized this experience beautifully in her own way, and I quote:

“…team work;
parties in the studio after end of transmission;
pranks;
dares;
eating maggots,
watching and barfing,
being covered in flour,
living at the station
during 24hr,
special transmissions,
tripping over hibernating technicians,
elections,
first scoop on news,
political scandals,
dinner at 2 am after shootings,
racing to dinner,
van vs crew on motorbikes,
being stuck on the lift;
the scandalous lift…
the things you would have seen.”

Believe it or not..that’s an impeccably accurate description.

We worked our asses off in that little office. I found this in my portfolio and thought to share; the video below is the first 6 minutes of a little experimental dramatic film Ula and I made during early 2009.  This was our first attempt at making anything film-ish and the thing took 2 days to complete. It wasn’t made to broadcast or anything like that, but as a learning experience to work with limited budget, time, locations, participants and expertise. There’s a lot to be improved, hopefully next time.

Ula and I would both like to thank our crew; especially Appe’, for the whole fun day of shooting, Hussein with his light, and Moddy with his music. We also appreciate Al, Usaa and Ina for their wonderful participation.
